Reply, forward and star messages

Every message carries a small set of actions. On desktop, hover a message and open its menu; on your phone, press and hold it.

Reply

Choose Reply to quote a message above your own. In a group you can also reply privately — your answer goes to that person as a direct message with the group message quoted, so the rest of the group never sees it.

Forward

Send a message on to another chat, group or channel. Forwarded messages are marked as forwarded so people know the words aren't originally yours.

Star

Star a message to keep it. Starred messages live under the ⋮ menu → Starred messages, so a receipt, an address or a bank detail is always two taps away.

React

Tap the emoji button on a message to react without sending a new one. Tap your reaction again to remove it.
