Private channels and join requests

A private channel can't be read by anyone who isn't approved — its posts stay hidden until an admin lets you in.

Asking to join

Open the channel and choose Request to Join (in the directory the button reads Request). The channel's admins are notified, and the button changes to Requested until someone decides. If your request is declined you'll be told, and you can ask again.

Approving requests as an admin

1. Open the channel and go to Channel info → Requests.
2. Each request shows who's asking and when they asked.
3. Choose Approve or Decline.

A badge on the channel — in the channel list, on the channel's menu and on the Channels tab itself — tells you when someone is waiting.
