How end‑to‑end encryption works

Every personal chat, call, photo, voice note, and status on KT Messenger is protected with end‑to‑end encryption by default. You don't need to turn anything on.

What it means

Your messages are scrambled on your device and can only be unscrambled by the person you're talking to. Not us, not your network provider, and not anyone intercepting the connection can read them. The keys live only on your devices.

Verify a chat is secure

  1. Open a chat and tap the contact's name to view the chat info.
  2. Tap Encryption to see a security code (and QR code).
  3. Compare it with your contact in person, or have them scan your code. Matching codes mean no one is in the middle.

What we can and can't see

  • We can't read the content of your end‑to‑end encrypted messages or calls.
  • We don't sell your data or use your private chats for advertising.
