Back up and restore your chats

A backup is what lets you move to a new phone without losing your conversations.

Where backups go

• KT Cloud — encrypted backup to KT's own storage, available on every platform.
• Google Drive — on Android, if you'd rather keep it in your own Drive.

Set it up

1. Go to Settings → Chats → Chat backup.
2. Choose where to back up and how often — daily, weekly, monthly or manually.
3. Decide whether to include videos, which are much larger than everything else.

Restore

Install KT Messenger, verify the same phone number, and choose Restore when prompted. Restoring happens once, during setup — so don't skip it if you want your history back.

Good to know

Backups are encrypted. Keep your account's phone number reachable: it's how a restore proves the backup is yours.
