The announcement group

Every community has one announcement group, and everyone in the community is in it. It's how an admin reaches the whole community at once.

Who can post

Only community admins. Members read the announcements and can react to them, but the message box is closed for them — the group shows a note saying so.

What it's for

• Notices that matter to everyone: closures, deadlines, changes of plan.
• Pointing people at the right group for a topic.

Moving between groups

The community chip in the chat header opens a switcher listing the announcement group and every group you're in, so you can jump between them — and add a new group — without leaving the conversation.
